Tithes Malachi 3:8-11, Leviticus 27:30-32, Hebrews 7:1-10, Matthew 23:23
In God's plan of supernatural provision for His people, He required the children of Israel to give a tenth of everything they possessed. Tithing was part of the relationship the children of Israel had with God. Through the giving of their tithes, they acknowledged God as the Source of their provision and blessing. Tithing is still a means of honoring and worshipping God by giving a tenth of all we possess, and is still a means whereby God pours out His blessings upon His people.
First Fruits
In addition to the tithes, freeewill and burnt offering which God required the children of Israel to give, they were also required to give thir furstfruits to Him. This was not optional. God considered the firstfruits of all they posssessed to belong to Him. The firstfruits were the first of the produce, the first of their crops, their trees, and their animals. These were considered to be the very best of all they owned. As the Children of Israel gave thier firstfruits, God blessed and prospered them. God expects us to give the firstfuits.. the very best of all God has given us expecting Him to release His Increase.
Offering (Genesis 4:3-7, Leviticus 4: 1-12, Haggai 2:11-14, Acts 5: 1-11, Hebrews 10-5-7, Matthew 5-23-24)
The relationship that the children of Israel had with God was dependent upon the sacrificail offerings which God directed them to present to Him upon the altar. The offerings which we pressent to God today are an integral part of our relationship with God. We must present offerings that are according to the example He gave us if we want them to be acceptable to Him and reap His promised blessings
